Marko Hatlak in FUNtango

Stage Special

Marko Hatlak, one of the best Slovenian accordion players, studied in Germany and then performed solo and in different bands and orchestras for fifteen years at home and abroad. In 2004, he formed the band FUNtango modelled on the great Astor Piazzolla, to whom he also paid tribute in 2008 with his first album History. He later expanded his programme with a cover of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, musette by the French master accordion player Richard Galliano and also his own songs.

The new album, still without a title, was recorded in spring in Denmark and will be released in the beginning of July, just before their performance at the festival Pivo in cvetje Laško. It will feature new original songs, the mentioned Vivaldi cover in a special FUNtango version and a few selected songs by Astor Piazzolla!

Their special guest will be Iztok Mlakar. With a few selected songs from Mlakar’s rich repertoire and the colourful interpretation by FUNtango, this concert will surely be an unforgettable event for all fans of this type of music! Could we possibly want anything more for the beginning of the Saturday’s happening on the Special stage?
